Suzanne Brookoff-Stack is a long -time faculty member of the Educational Center of the Arts,where she teaches Ballet, and Modern Dance History. In addition, she taught ballet at New Haven Ballet for 20 years. Suzanne started her ballet training in New York City with Vladimir Dokoudovsky. She began her modern dance training as a scholarship student at the first Alvin Ailey School, performing as a member of the inaugural Ailey II Company. Suzanne continued her extensive training in both Ballet and Modern Dance Techniques at Purchase College, from which she graduated summa cum laude, with a BFA in dance and a BA in literature. She completed the Teacher Training Workshop at the celebrated Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. At Purchase, Suzanne found a mentor in Anna Sokolow, performing as a soloist in many of Sokolow’s seminal works. Suzanne has performed with the Pearl Lang Dance Co, Anna Sokolow, the Long Island Ballet Theater, (a regional Ballet Company),and many small groups in New York City She has choreographed numerous works for students, including the two that represented New Haven Ballet at the 2008 Connecticut Dance Alliance’s Distinguished Achievement in Dance Award, honoring Noble Barker. More recently, Suzanne produced an evening of dance in Westville’s Lyric Hall, presenting her own work and those of colleagues from ECA and NHB.
